Frequently Asked Questions

What is Industrial Muscle Therapy?

Industrial muscle therapy, also known as industrial massage or workplace massage, is a type of massage therapy that is specifically designed to address the physical demands and stresses that can be associated with work-related activities.

Industrial muscle therapy can be used to help prevent or reduce muscle pain, stiffness, and fatigue that may be caused by repetitive tasks, prolonged periods of standing or sitting, or other work-related activities.

Industrial muscle therapy is a mobile service that may be provided in a variety of settings including offices, factories, warehouses, and construction sites. It will be performed by a licensed massage therapist and may be administered in the form of a seated chair massage or a full-body massage.

Who are your primary clients?

We offer services for people from all walks of life, from fast-food workers to farmers, to mechanics and fabricators. Chronic pain affects nearly everyone at some point in time in our lives, but it doesn't have to control your life.

Why was Industrial Muscle Therapy, LLC Created?

Based out of Lexington, Kentucky, Justin Heagarty, LMT, founded Industrial Muscle Therapy, LLC in 2022 to spread awareness of the potential benefits massage has to offer in relieving chronic pain symptoms in those who suffer from past injuries or just work-related stress. What is a trigger point?

A trigger point is a small, tight area within a muscle that can cause pain or discomfort when it is pressed on or when the muscle is used. Trigger points are often associated with muscle tension and can be caused by a variety of factors, such as overuse, strain, or injury. They may also be caused by stress, poor posture, or other physical or emotional conditions.

Trigger points can cause a variety of symptoms, including muscle pain, stiffness, weakness, and fatigue. They may also refer pain to other areas of the body, which means that pressing on a trigger point in one muscle may cause pain to be felt in a different area of the body. For example, a trigger point in the neck may cause a person to feel a headache or pain in the shoulder.

Trigger point therapy is a type of massage that involves pressing on or massaging trigger points in order to relieve muscle tension and pain. This type of therapy is often used in conjunction with other techniques, such as stretching and strengthening exercises, to help manage muscle pain and discomfort.

Do you offer cupping?

Yes we do!

Cupping therapy is a type of alternative therapy that involves the use of suction cups on the skin to create a vacuum effect. The suction cups are placed on the skin, and the therapist will use a hand pump to create a vacuum inside the cup. The suction created by the cup helps to lift and separate the skin and muscle tissue, increasing blood flow and promoting healing.

Cupping therapy is believed to have a number of potential health benefits, including reducing muscle pain and tension, improving circulation, and helping to reduce inflammation. It may be used to treat a variety of conditions, including back pain, headaches, and muscle soreness.

Cupping therapy is generally considered to be safe when performed by a trained and qualified therapist. However, it is important to note that cupping therapy may cause temporary redness, markings or discomfort on the skin, and it may not be suitable for everyone. It is always a good idea to discuss any concerns you may have with a healthcare professional before starting any new treatment.

Never had a massage? Here is what to expect.

Before the massage, your therapist will ask you about your health history and any specific concerns or areas of the body you would like them to focus on. They will also ask about your preferred level of pressure and type of massage, such as Swedish or deep tissue.

- You will be asked to undress to your comfort level and to lie down on the massage table, covered by a sheet and blanket. The therapist will leave the room while you get undressed and give you time to get comfortable on the table.

- The therapist will knock on the door and re-enter the room to begin the massage. They will use a variety of techniques, such as kneading, tapping, and pressing, to manipulate the muscles and other soft tissues of your body. They will also use oil or lotion to help their hands glide over your skin.

- During the massage, you should feel free to communicate with your therapist about your comfort level and any areas of your body that feel particularly tense or sore. They will adjust their techniques based on your feedback.

- After the massage is finished, the therapist will leave the room while you get dressed. You will then have the opportunity to discuss any questions or concerns you may have with the therapist.

Overall, the goal of the massage is to help you relax and feel comfortable, so don't be afraid to speak up if you have any concerns or preferences.

What is massage therapy?

Massage therapy is the manual manipulation of soft tissue for the purpose of promoting relaxation, relieving pain and discomfort, and improving overall health and well-being. Massage therapists use a variety of techniques, including stroking, kneading, and applying pressure to the muscles and other soft tissues of the body.

Massage therapy can be beneficial for a wide range of conditions, including stress, anxiety, chronic pain, and muscle tension. It may also be helpful for people who are recovering from injuries or surgeries, or who have physical or emotional conditions that cause discomfort or dysfunction.

Massage therapy is a practice that has been used for centuries to promote relaxation, relieve pain and discomfort, and improve overall health and well-being. The origins of massage therapy can be traced back to ancient civilizations in Egypt, China, and Greece, where it was used as a form of medical treatment and as a means of promoting physical and emotional well-being. Over time, the practice of massage therapy has evolved and has been integrated into various healthcare systems around the world. Today, massage therapy is widely recognized as a safe and effective treatment for a wide range of conditions, and is used by people of all ages to promote relaxation and improve overall health and well-being.

Do I need to be undressed during the massage?

It is generally recommended that you undress to your comfort level for a massage. You will be provided with a sheet and blanket to cover the parts of your body that are not being massaged, and you will typically be asked to remove only the clothing that is necessary to access the areas of your body that are being worked on. For example, if you are receiving a full body massage, you may be asked to remove all of your clothes and to lie under a sheet and blanket on the massage table. If you are only receiving a massage on a specific area of your body, such as your back or legs, you may be asked to remove only the clothing that covers that area.

It is important to remember that the goal of massage therapy is to help you relax and feel comfortable, so you should feel free to discuss any concerns or preferences you may have with your therapist. Some people may feel more comfortable leaving their underwear on during the massage, while others may prefer to be fully undressed. No matter what you choose, you will always be under a sheet.

Ultimately, the decision about what to wear during a massage is a personal one, and your therapist will respect your wishes and do their best to make you feel comfortable and relaxed during the session. Any clothing left on is considered a boundary.
